About Us
1921: Andy's was founded by Dick Anderson in Montrose. Main business was transporting of building materials from Los Angeles to the Crescenta Valley1923: Anderson sells business to Marion Benthussen. Business now expanded into the moving of household goods.

1945: Harry & Cress Kroening (Parents of present owner) purchase firm. Andy's name is retained. Company expands into warehousing and long term storage. Statewide moving offered by direct more van service.1948: Andy's moves from Honolulu Avenue to present location in North Verdugo Road. Warehouse space expanded to 8,000 square feet.
1950: Andy's offers interstate services to the western United States. International moving services also established for twelve countries.
1956: Andy's associates with Lyon Van Lines to offer direct services to all 48 continental states.
1957: International services expanded to all countries except “Iron Curtain” countries.
1958: 16,000 square feet of warehouse space added, making 24,000 total square feet. Safe-T-Vault dust free storage method adopted.
1961: Andy's terminates can line agreement with Lyon and joins King Van Lines. Nationwide long haul fleet established offering services in an Andy's truck to all 48 continental states.
1963: New construction of an additional 8,000 square foot warehouse increases total warehouse space to 32,000 square feet. First long haul diesel sleeper tractors added to fleet, reduction transit times.1964: Joe Kroening, son of owners, starts management apprenticeship. Commercial warehouse and distribution operation started.
1967: Expansion into high value products and transportation started. Specialized equipment with lift gate logistic controls and air ride suspensions placed into service.
1971: Andy's terminate agreement with King Van Lines and joins world leading northAmerican Van Lines. Direct service is now available to all continental United States, Canada, Alaska and Northwest Territories.
1973: Services now offered to the entire world including the “Iron Curtain” countries via the Pepsi Trade Agreement.
1975: Andy's records first of six 1000% revenue growth years. Vehicle fleet and personnel greatly expanded.
1981: Two warehouse facilities purchased making total space 38,000 square feet.1983: Commercial warehousing services expanded to include new store set up and display capabilities
1985: Qualcom tracking and messaging systems installed in nationwide fleet. This allows instant driver communication and real time tracking of most interstate moves.
1987: Andy's purchases Ledger Newspaper building increasing storage capazity to 55,000 square feet.
1988: Joe Kroening acquires all Andy's stock and becomes sole owner. Andy's named “North American Top Quality Agency.” This honor achieved by on the best 2 to 3% of all agencies world wide.
1993: Andy's earns “Agency of Year” award among all California North American Van Lines agents. This awards in earned again in 1994, 1995 and 1996.
1994: Andy's adopts major computer reorganization allowing interfacing American coorporate headquarters for information exchange. Jill (Kroening) Longo and Heather (Kroening) Diner join Andy's operations and marketing departments, becoming the third generation of the Kroening family to manage and operate Andy's Transfer and Storage. High value and new products (Blanket Wrap) services expanded upon to round out Andy's complete transportation services.1995: Entire long haul trailer fleet updated with all new equipment. First time in history of Andy's that all long distance, road trailers are less than one year old.
1996: Andy's name “Business of the Year” by Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of COmmerce for continued community involvement.
1997: Andy's earns “Registered International Mover” certificate. The first company in Los Angeles recognized as a lead in international relocations.
1998: Andy's earns coveted “Customer Service Excellence” award. This honor is earned by the top one percent of all NAVL agencies. Revenues exceeds five million dollars, placing Andy's in the top forty of all NAVL agencies nationside.
1999: Andy's recognized by North American Van Lines, as a “Premier Service Producer” for Andy's expansion of their self haul fleet that is now operating nationwide in the United States and all Canadian provinces.2000: As revenues and service grow, Andy's updates local fleet and adds an additional 6,000 square feet fo vaulted storage. Further expansion of non traditional servicing of high value products planned and implemented. This product line becomes the fastest growing of all Andy's services.
2001: Andy's expands office and industrial moving services. Operations department is fully computerized and off site operation departments are established at major client's facilities providing on-site, on demand services.
2002: The purchase of quick response “hot-shot” office moving trucks allows Andy's to provide quicker service to office moving clients. All are fully equipped and staffed to handle small on and off site moves more expediently than our competitors. Expansion of office and industrial division continues with several ner major clients. Ralph Myers, past Chairman of the California Moving & Storage Association and noted moving industry executive joins Andy's sales team.
2003: Quality is again stressed with Andy's receiving “Excellent” ratings for all for quarters by our customer when surveyed by Telesite, an independent third party firm.2004: Joe Kroening, President of Andy's, named “Man of the Year” by the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce for his bcommitment and support to the Crescenta Valley community. Quality continues with all four quarters rated “Excellent” by our customers. Two long haul drivers achieve Vanguard status. Less than five percent of all nationwide North American drivers earn this distinction.
2005: Andy's receives “Excellent” rating once again from our customers in all four quarters. Andy's earns the “Four Star” award for the third consecutive year. The Four Star award is given to NAVL agents who maintain an “Excellent” rating from their customers for all four quarters in a given year. Andy's is one of forty agents to earn this honor for three consecutive years. Jill (Kroening) Longo elected Chairman of the California Moving and Storage Association, our state trade association, leading the largest state moving trade group in the country. She represents over 500 California members dealing with government regulators and the media daily.
2006: Patrick Longo begins management apprenticeship with the goal of assuming all managing duties, and building on Andy's quality and services. Andy's earns the “Customer Choice Quality Award,” placing first above NAVL agents, and receives awards at North American Van Lines' annual meeting.
2007: Andy's again earns the “Customer Choice Quality Award.” Patrick Longo represents the company at the annual convention in Jacksonville, Florida to collect the award. Jill Longo begins her term as a member of the Board of Directors for NAMA, North American Movers Association. Jill continues to serve as a member of the NAMA Quality Committee and chair of the Core Agent Committee.
Future: Andy's looks forward to the future of service our community both with the finest in moving and storage services, and as a good citizen and neighbor to all. Company celebrates its 85th year of continuos operations.
